Michael Bishop emerged on the scene as a DJ in Perth – Australia’s westernmost metropolis, on the shores of the Indian Ocean – in the late 1990s where he developed a reputation for riveting deep house sets. Soon after, he was recruited to join Looney Choons, Perth’s longest running electronic music radio show. Mike developed into an influential player in the Perth music scene, branching out from hosting radio and producing shows to write for the underground electronic music magazine Dissonance during 1998-2000 and joining Farquadrant bookings and promotions working to bring major electronic music artists to Australian shores.
Now having relocated to Toronto, Bishop has shifted into production of electronic music covering various genres such as ambient, electronica, jazz, minimalist, funk, tech and house. Experience in music production, promotions and organizing events has enabled him to become a versatile artist who is adept at reading the mood of the audience and curating musical selections to fit the desired vibe, often blending the familiar with the unexpected in the process.
